Hello

Not sure where this discussion should go so people in the know feel free to move this thread.

I wanted to start a discussion to try and categorise the builds we are coming up with and the roles we are trying to fill and our command need us to fill in order to be more effective.

This thread is designed to work out a common set of terms and the weighting we apply to characteristics.

This was my first thoughts on the topic. I envision 8 Build Classes with regard to their battlefield role.

Loc of Enemy (LoE)
1st - SPEED 50
2nd - ECM 40
3rd - Cap Module 10 (edit from Fire Power)

Force Recon
LoE/Harrasment
1st - Speed 40
2nd - Fire power 40
3rd - ECM 20

Skirmisher
Harrasment/Scout hunters (SH)
1st - Fire power 50
2nd - Speed 25
3rd - Resilience 25

Flanker
Close Tactical Support
1st - Fire Power 40
2nd - Resilience 30
3rd - Speed 30

Brawler
Assault
1st - Resilience 50
2nd - Firepower 45
3rd - ECM / Cap Module 5

Fire support - Close
Target suppression
1st - Indirect Fire Power 50
2nd - Direct Fire Power 30
3rd - Speed 20

Fire support - Tactical
Target Bombardment
1st - Indirect Fire Power 70
2nd - Direct Fire Power 15
3rd - Heat Management 15

Sniper - Direct
Target Bombardment
1st - Direct fire Power 70
2nd - Resilience 20
3rd - Heat Management 10

I would like your comments on the following areas:

Naming conventions
Class roles - Defining exactly what each role should encompass
Characteristics - Do you agree with my assessment of the roles
Weighting of Characteristics - Should it be a % or more levels of need. or a needed value - E.g. Damage of weapon type. E.g. Fire Support - Tac should have minimum 40 Alpha damage from LRM's

I currently have what I consider:

Fire support - Close SHD-2H
2 x LRM10
1 x LRM5
Large Laser
3 x MG
Speed - 89kph
Armour - 352

Flanker - SHD-5M
1 x AC/10
2 x Medium Laser
1 x SRM6
1 x SRM4
Speed - 89kph
Armour - 336

Fire support - Tactical - AWS-8R
2 x LRM15
2 x LRM10
2 x Medium Laser
Speed - 53kph
Armour - 432
Cooling 1.4 (ish)

Combat Information Center, the bottom-most forum section in the Hussar Headquarters, I'd guess :)

You might wanna add resource gathering (conquest) and tactical capping (assault) to the roles of both scouts and force recon.

Made some changes ... So how many of your builds fit into these classes ... and Would these classes be of use to our col./Cpt./Lt's

Can people post some of their builds and see how they match up?

Propably Fox is goin to move this but if you see in combat info center were we post these kind of conversations.The good thing is that most of us have been droping together for a long time and know a bit of our playstyles and our favorite builds but we also have around 20+ mechs on bays to fit.Anyway we`re goin to have a conversation in the near future discussing these things in real time where we can make more sence and figure this out.

New recruits cannot see the Combat Information Center until they become full members. The reason for this is the extremely low requirements to become a recruit.

This message can stay here until Woodstock becomes a full member. Also, this topic has come up a few times before, though I'm not sure exactly which threads.

Well I don't have any scouts, as most people know, but I do have some 'Mechs that fill up the other spots:

Force Recon
SDR-5D

Skirmisher
SDR-5D

Flanker
SDR-5D

Brawler

SDR-5D

Fire support - Close
SDR-5D

And if you count ~500m long enough range to qualify for sniping, he could probably snipe, too :P

I tried running it with a PPC a few times, so he could definitely cover the sniper role. The last time I did it, I got 82 dmg and no kills, so... yeah... still remains my favorite mech.
