If you read the registration rules carefully, they gave examples of where a canon name could be used with modification.
A year ago we discussed as a unit what the fallback would be. After a month or more of back and forth, I finally called the final choice. We would fall back on To the Knife and the tag TTK. PGI told us before even Closed Beta was over that they wouldn't be allowing players to use canon unit names in game. They did not, however, say anything about out of game.
Now that they've released their final rules and opened per-registration for those with Founders accounts, I decided to attempt a modification of the name that kept full meaning of both. If they reject it, we'll fall back straight to To the Knife in game. We already will be using TTK because 4RH could also be a problem. What we call ourselves here, and on TeamSpeak, or in chatboxes will still be the 4th Regulan Hussars.
This is not the first game to disallow canon names where clans/units/fleets or whatever have one name in game but call themselves something different. These are the cards we've been dealt, and we'll do what we can with them.

There were a lot of Regulan Hussars, and all with completely different flavors than the 4th.
The 4th Regulan Hussars were the most specific towards the kukri knife, making the overall Regulan Hussar motto of "To the Knife" most appropriate here in the 4th. While "The Kukri", which was the 4th RH's name beyond the designation, is not in the banned list, I'm pretty sure it would be added to it if we tried to use it.
